Do you watch the Oscars? I must confess I’m a die-hard fan. I’ve been watching it every year as long as I can remember. The whole show is something I look forward to every year, but I especially love what my husband calls the “pre-game show,” otherwise known as the Red Carpet!
Is there anything easier than wearing a summer sundress?! Nothing compares to a one-piece outfit for simplicity and comfort. With a sundress you can slip it on, add a pair of cute sandals, maybe a bracelet or two, and you’re done!
I’m particularly fond of white dresses for summer, in fact, I love them so much I’ve written about them twice! However, easy, flowy dresses in colorful hues or floral prints also scream summer.
I know there are people who don’t even watch the Oscars but I just love them. To begin with, I’m a huge movie fan. I love listening to the speeches, seeing clips from all the movies, and even the lifetime achievement awards usually bring me to tears. But when you combine that with the glamour of the red carpet, well, it makes for a pretty perfect night of TV watching for me! I call the Oscars “My Super Bowl!”

I’m sure you’ve all heard the term or abbreviation “Little Black Dress” or even, “LBD.” But did you know there is an equally cute, equally classic, and equally essential piece you need to own for summer? That piece is the “Little White Dress!” Personally, I think there is nothing quite as cute for summer as the quintessential white dress. Whether it be a dressy version for a wedding or summer date night, or a more casual sundress for BBQs and backyard parties, there is nothing quite like the freshness of a white dress. Crisp and clean, they literally scream Summer!!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am very into the Oscars. My husband refers to it as “Mommy’s Super Bowl,” which I would say is fairly accurate. I literally look forward to it all year. I love everything about it; the speeches, the excitement, the honorary awards, and of course, the fashion. The “pre-show” is one of my favorite parts of the night! And this year I was pretty excited to see Chris Rock host. How did all of you think he did? And did you enjoy the show this year? I thought he did a fairly good job, and I must admit, his opening monologue was pretty scathingly funny. But I didn’t think the show was very good over all this year. I really miss it when they don’t do an honorary achievement award. I love that it usually involves a tribute to a beloved star and that we get to see clips from classic films. I’m such a film buff, so that is something I really enjoy. And I thought it went on waaay too long! And didn’t you feel like there was a lack of star wattage? Like where was everyone?! I could’ve used a few George Clooneys, Angelina Jolies, Brad Pitts, or how about some older, glamorous stars? It was pretty lacking. However, I did love the movies this year (I thought it was an especially good year!) and Spotlight, which won best picture, was one of my favorites. But enough about all those details… how were the dresses???? I must admit that here too, I was a little disappointed. A few people looked good, and no one looked terrible, but there just weren’t a lot of drop dead gorgeous dresses. Here were a few of my favorites, in no particular order.
