Hi everyone! Today is a very special Thursday as it is the first day of Early Access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! That means if you are a Nordstrom card holder, you can shop the sale today, 8 days before the general public! So if you are not already a cardholder, I highly recommend you become one (click here to apply)! Not only do you get access to this amazing sale-of-all-sales well before the public, but you also earn points for every dollar spent! However, if you don’t want another credit card, have no fear, you can peruse my list here and make some notes on items you like, and shop on July 20th when the sale goes public!
Today I’m talking about a color that I’ve had a love/hate relationship with for a long time. As many of you know, I had red as an accent color in my family room and kitchen for many years (I only recently got rid of it and talked about changing to blue). But I no longer gravitate to it at all in interiors, at least for now. I think I just had it for too long – it was in my house in one form or another for about 15 years!
Perfection! Love the peacoat, the loafers, and the black skinnies.
A plain black cotton blouse with dark jeans and simple heels, yet, the combination is so much more than the sum of its parts!
Love the texture added with the leather pants. And the grey flats are adorable!
Perfectly “casual chic” Saturday wear!
The lace blouse is gorgeous and adds so much texture. And I love that she paired the outfit with white pumps – so unexpected!
Here Olivia Palermo adds a feathered bag for texture. Interest is also added with the zippers on the black skinny jeans and the ribbon choker.
Love the all-black suit with the Adidas kicks!
Yes, yes, yes! Perfection!
I mean, is this not the cutest casual outfit ever?! And there they are with those frayed, cropped jeans!
Another great outfit for a day out. And black is such a basic color to have them in.
Apparently I need to own them in red!

Last year bandanas and neckerchiefs (when was the last time you heard that term?) started showing up during fashion week and also on some of the street-style stars and fashion bloggers. If you aren’t aware of this, trends that start with high fashion or during fashion week sometimes die off and never hit the real street (us). However, I have now been seeing neck scarfs showing up around town and on the web. This is a trend that I absolutely love. I mean, is there anything more classic than a chic little neck scarf to add polish to a casual outfit?
