Welcome to another of our weekly link party, Sundays at Home! Since today is Father’s Day, I hope you are enjoying time with the significant men in your life. Whether that’s your father, your children’s father, or a father figure, this day is such a nice time to honor those men who have influenced us for the better.
Sometimes the importance of a father is overshadowed by that of the mother. But the role of a father is essential for so many reasons, and shapes us in ways we are not always aware of. So much so that those children who grow up without one are dramatically affected by that loss.
I don’t think I ever realized how important a father’s role is in a child’s life until I had my own children. My husband is such a wonderful father, and I feel so happy, and thankful, and lucky, that my children have him as their role model.
We honor all fathers on this third Sunday in June. But I especially want to honor two of the best fathers (and men) I’ve ever known, my own father and my husband.
It is especially bittersweet for me since my dad passed away a few years ago and I no longer have him here. I think of him often, but especially on this day since he is no longer here. Of course, I now think about whether I thanked him enough, or did enough, or said enough.
