Lately (and by lately, I mean for about the last 6 months) I’ve been loving block heel sandals! Not only are they far more wearable than a narrower heel is, they are feeling more current than a stiletto right now. Anywhere that I would have worn a traditional high heel in the past, I find I’m pulling out a block heel instead.
I don’t know if you have all seen the “It” flat that came out this Spring, but it is so cute! And right up my alley. It’s flat, it’s pointed, and unbelievably stylish. I first started seeing it on Instagram and Pinterest this Spring by several designers (Aquazurra started the trend, but Jimmy Choo also did a version). And because it was so popular through Spring and Summer, I predict it will stay around for at least the Fall. And, now high street has jumped on the bandwagon, and it comes in all price points (thank goodness!) Does it get any cuter than this flat with a pair of jeans?
I was going to wait to write about the fringe Fall trend as we got closer to September, especially since I’m doing a page of “Fringe” in the magazine for that month, but I COULDN’T WAIT! Fringe is back. And it’s back big. And though it’s not something I like a lot of, a little can be amazing. Take for instance, shoes. Some of the fringed heels out there make you look like you are wearing a small Chewbacca, while others add just enough to be fun and sexy. I don’t know about you, but I like the trend muchmore in accessories than I do in clothing. I fell in love with a couple of sandals back in the Spring (this trend actually started then) and that’s what got me obsessed about actually getting a fringed sandal for Fall. What I love about most of the fringed sandals is that they are suede, which seems very “fallish” to me. And though the Aquazurra sandal below was adorable in both the red and the yellow; the grays, blacks, and browns these new sandals are coming out in seem much more seasonably appropriate.
I figured since 70’s style flare jeans seem to be coming back in style that I better write this “favorite” post now, before it’s too late and it seems way too dated! Mind you, I am consciously ignoring this so-called trend, just hoping against hope that it fades quietly away. Meanwhile, I don’t know about you, but I am definitely still wearing my skinnies and have no plans to re-buy a whole closetful of jeans. So, this look that I am so crazy about? High heeled, pointy pumps worn with skinny jeans. There is really no sexier look on the planet (in my opinion) and it looks good on almost everyone. The narrow line of the pants is complimented by the point of the shoe, creating a long, clean line. I love the classic look of pointed pumps, and I especially love how they dress up a pair of jeans. The look can go dressy with a blouse or sexy tank top for a night out, or funkier with distressed jeans and a tee. Either way, it’s a classic. Sexy, edgy, universally flattering.
There is a shoe brand that I have fallen for….hard. Aquazzura. The line was started fairly recently, it’s only been around since 2011 and I probably first saw their shoes a couple of years ago. The designer is Edgardo Osorio and boy, does he design beautiful shoes! They are as comfortable as they are sexy. See if you agree……
I thought I would start out today talking about wardrobe “investment pieces.” Many of you have heard the term before but don’t really know what it means or how to apply it to your closets. I’ve also had a lot of friends ask me, “How do I know what to spend on and what not to? And what if things go out of style?” Well, I’m here to (try to) clarify all of that for you!
