When I posted my Memorial Day table last month I had mentioned that I would like to try something a little different for my Independence Day tablescape. Though I did end up changing it up a little more than I planned (I didn’t want to bore everyone!) I don’t usually go too crazy with the “theme” stuff because I think it can get a little overwhelming. I like it to feel fresh and patriotic, while still being uncluttered.
Every year I bring out the red, white, and blue decorations right before Memorial Day, and I usually keep them out through July 4th. I treat the whole month as a “patriotic” season! Also, since we usually have people over for one or the other of these holidays, I wanted to put together a patriotic tablescape that could work for either one. I love the crispness of red, white and blue, and of course I want to honor the holiday, but I also didn’t want to go too overboard. So, I included a few flags, but not too many, and concentrated on the combination of colors. I may do something a little more decorated for the 4th, but for this weekend, I wanted to keep it simple. Perfect for Memorial Day, Labor Day or even just a summer bbq!
