Time certainly goes by quickly in our busy lives, so if you’re anything like me, you haven’t given your Mother’s Day gift much thought yet. Well guys, it’s only two weeks away at this point, so now is the time to give it some thought!
I don’t remember when I first heard this saying, but I know my kids were young. It was probably at a time when I was overwhelmed and under rested and all three were under the age of 6!
And for some reason, it really hit home. Instinctively, I knew then that one day I would wish they were still in diapers, wish they were still grabbing my leg and looking up at me, wish they would still hold tightly to my neck when I carried them, wish they would still run into my arms as I came in the door.
Today is Mother’s Day so, of course, my thoughts are of all the mothers out there. Though it is possibly the most important job any of us will ever do, it is also one of the hardest. There are no instructions, rule books, feedback panels or anything else to tell us how we are doing. We just have to do the best we can with what we have. So for those mothers out there, know that what you do is important. And it is appreciated (sometimes much later, but nonetheless). Celebrate this day honoring mothers and take a moment to not only appreciate your own mother, but to celebrate the job you do every day. For truly, the mothering of your children shapes the generation to come.
