Every spring there is a “must have” shoe for the season. And what is the “It” shoe for Spring 2015? Espadrilles! They are everywhere! And though I always see a few every time Spring rolls around, I have never seen the abundance that I have this year. They are everywhere from J. Crew, to Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, even Target and Old Navy have some (and at great prices).
Not a very original post, I’m sure, but I have to share my love of Converse All-Stars. They are my absolute favorite sneaker. I have been wearing them for years, and I’m sure I will never stop. I’m very much a creature of habit with basics (been wearing the exact same bra for years.. well, you get the picture). They are comfortable and they look so cute with casual outfits. Here is to a classic, that just gets better and better! (And I love them on guys too!)
One of my very favorite looks is pointy toed shoes, both flats and pumps, though today I’m going to talk about flats. As a mom and person whose job it is to shop (read; walk all day), I am almost always wearing flats. So you can bet I have been very excited to see that pointy toed flats are having a bit of a moment these days! There has been a plethora of new styles and one of the ones that’s hottest for spring is the “d’orsay,” which is flat out fabulous. For those of you who don’t know, the d’orsay is a shoe in which the sides of the shoe is cut away, revealing the arch of the foot. They are everywhere these days and as I’ve been wanting some new flats for spring, I knew I had to add a d’orsay style. The first d’orsay that I was aware of was by Jenni Kayne, a designer with a huge celebrity following. She does one adorable style in a multitude of colors (the leopard is particularly cute) but they are prohibitively expensive ($450). Here is her shoe in a great hot pink:
I was recently introduced to the wonderful sneaker called the la Tennis l’originale by Bensimon. This canvas tennis shoe is ubiquitous there, often called “The French girl’s Keds.” Frankly, I don’t know how I was not aware of these before. They are simply adorable. In my opinion, they are the perfect balance between sporty and stylish, while also giving off an undeniable French vibe, a joie de vivre. Just looking at them makes me want to walk around the shoreline of the French coast while wearing capri pants and a scarf tied jauntily around my neck. They are made from natural fabrics and real rubber, and can be washed in the washer – a definite plus when it comes to canvas shoes! Not only that, they come in an array of fun colors, with laces or without. Now I just have to decide which one!
I’m in love with Hunter rain boots, and have been for quite awhile. I first fell in love with them when I saw them on several celebrities and fashion bloggers a few years back. However, seeing as we don’t normally get a ton of rain here in California (and the last few years, hardly any!), I could never really justify the expense. However, I guess I coveted them for so long that my husband felt badly for me, so he bought me some for Christmas this year! I can’t tell you how excited I am!
