This spring, stripes are everywhere. From the classic French black and white tees, to bright striped dresses and tops, to cute, flowy pants. Just like gingham, they are one of my absolute favorite spring trends. They look crisp and fresh, even when the weather warms up. They’re timeless, practical, classic, and easily wearable. And how many things can we say that about?
In honor of summer, I am sharing my love of stripes this week. Because though they can be worn all year (and I do!), there is something inherently “summery” about them!
Stripes are something that I came to later in life; I don’t remember loving them as a young girl, or even in college. But starting in my twenties, and coinciding (not coincidentally) with my love affair with J. Crew, I started to fall in love with stripes.
Stripes… I love them. In all shapes, sizes, colors. I can’t get enough. I have always loved them, but I have to say, Pinterest has renewed my interest of late. There is no shortage of amazing outfits on Pinterest in which stripes play a part. They can be very “Parisian” looking, thin stripes of black and white with adorable, skinny capri pants or they can be patriotic if they are red and white (or navy and white) and are worn with the opposite color, or they look especially great when paired with a pop of color in the shoe and a blazer or denim jacket. They are basic. They are classic. And they never go out of style! For the love of stripes here are some inspiration pins (I think you will see what I am talking about)…..
