Is there anything crisper to wear than black and white? I know it can be argued that this is a non-seasonal look and as such, it can be worn all year, and I would agree. However, when it’s the middle of August and hot as Hades, we want everything we wear to at least appear crisp and fresh, right? Well, pairing black and white separates does the job! A classic and effortless combo, it is the epitome of chic. And a definite favorite of mine! I’ve talked about my love for black and white before, but because it is so timeless, I thought it was worth re-visiting!
Dressy shorts. A contradiction in terms, right? However, I have seen them more and more in the last few years, and I must say, I’m a convert!
Previously, I always thought of shorts as casual, and I really only wore them with flip flops or Converse sneakers. However, dressy shorts worn out at night with heels can be such a cute look! I admit, I am not a skirt wearing person for the most part, so I guess they speak to me. They are short (like a skirt) but way, way more comfortable. And sexy!
So, I’m not sure when I “warmed” to orange, but it might’ve been back when Jennifer Garner wore that gorgeous vintage orange dress to the Oscars one year. I mean, orange and formal are not two words you hear strung together very often!
I’m sure you’ve all heard the term or abbreviation “Little Black Dress” or even, “LBD.” But did you know there is an equally cute, equally classic, and equally essential piece you need to own for summer? That piece is the “Little White Dress!” Personally, I think there is nothing quite as cute for summer as the quintessential white dress. Whether it be a dressy version for a wedding or summer date night, or a more casual sundress for BBQs and backyard parties, there is nothing quite like the freshness of a white dress. Crisp and clean, they literally scream Summer!!
When I posted my Memorial Day table last month I had mentioned that I would like to try something a little different for my Independence Day tablescape. Though I did end up changing it up a little more than I planned (I didn’t want to bore everyone)! If you love tablescapes as much as I do and are looking for more inspiration, check out my free e-book featuring twelve of my favorites!
Eyelet. A summer staple. It comes back every summer, though there were some years in the recent past that it didn’t really resurrect. However, in the last few it’s come back with a bang. I love it! It’s quintessentially summer-y, cool (both literally and figuratively), and it’s more structured than lace which, at least for me, gives it a much needed bit of edge.
