Traditional French-Inspired Christmas in Burgundy & Silver
This traditional French-inspired Christmas living room is decorated in burgundy and silver, with pops of white. The classic palette feels Old-World yet fresh and festive!
Our last holiday tour is finally here – we’re sharing our formal living and dining rooms all dressed for the season! I’ve used the same traditional palette of burgundy and silver that I used in the rest of the house, and I’m loving the classic look.

If you stopped by the family room and kitchen tour, then you know I’ve been dying to do red in my Christmas decor for a few years now. The accent color is a rich red/burgundy and I couldn’t love it more!

I actually planned this color scheme last Christmas! I knew I wanted to go back to a more traditional palette, but I also knew I wanted to put my own spin on it. And this rich burgundy was just the ticket!
It works beautifully with silver and white, and it’s lovely with the sage greens I already have in the room.

On the sofa, I mixed a rich red Noel pillow with sage green plaid pillows.
The coffee table vignette mixes a vintage Santa, bottle brush tree, and one of my favorite seasonal candles.

The florals are a combination of white roses, greenery, and red berries all displayed in a rustic vintage pitcher.

On the mantel I went very simple with just a collection of silver candlesticks, along with my favorite cedar wreath hung on the mirror.

The mantel garland is a mix of my favorite cedar garland combined with eucalyptus leaves, along with knit stockings and burgundy velvet ribbon.
And how about this adorable Noel ribbon?! Of course the minute I saw it I knew I had to buy it!

A burgundy velvet pillow adds a pop of color to a French chair.

I’m in love with these burgundy and green patterned papers from JHS Essentials! They seriously have the cutest patterns ever!

What I love about using mostly neutrals in my holiday decorating is that it makes it easy to add any accent color you want. To create this traditional French-inspired Christmas look, I simply added burgundy ornaments to the silver and white mercury glass ornaments that I use every year.
The only new additions I added were the ornaments and a silver garland. I added just a few of the rich burgundy ornaments as I didn’t want the red to overpower the simplicity of the palette.

Even the Mora clock got dressed up this year with a greenery swag and burgundy velvet ribbon!
And our little tabletop tree got plopped into a basket planter and displayed in the entryway. This tree has been such a great investment. I use it every year and in every space – from tabletops, to the hearth, to the family room, and now the entry.

In the dining room I kept it simple with mini wreaths on the backs of the end chairs and a larger wreath hanging over the artwork.

The table display features a fluted glass hurricane and live greens, along with mercury glass votives on a linen runner.

Silver, white, and burgundy ornaments in an antique wood bowl decorate the sideboard.

I hope our traditional French-inspired Christmas living room has inspired some of your own holiday decorating!
