Valentine’s Day Decor in the Kitchen

Today I wanted to share my kitchen all dressed for Valentine’s Day. Normally, I don’t do a whole lot for this holiday, but this year, I was really feeling the urge. Once Christmas was gone my house was definitely feeling a little uninspiring! That, combined with all the rainy days we’ve had, just put me in the mood to brighten up the house a little. So I broke out a few Valentine’s Day decor items and decided to decorate the kitchen!

Red isn’t a color that works well in most areas of my house as all the blues and greens really throw it off. But since my kitchen is white, I can definitely do it in this room. In fact, one of the things I like best about a white kitchen is the fact that I can decorate easily for every season. Everything goes with white!

I brought out a vintage red candy dish that I’ve had for years (I love shopping my house!) Combined with white hydrangeas on the counter it makes a nice little vignette.

I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I challenged myself to just use things that I already had. It turns out I have quite a few Christmas things that work for Valentine’s Day decor as well!

These glass apothecary jars I’ve had for many years, and I haven’t had them out in quite a long time. I decided to fill them with red colored candy that I bought at the dollar store.

The little Valentine angel was a purchase from Etsy last year, and to make her a little more special, I put her on a cake plate. I like the look of this little vignette in the corner of my kitchen. It just brightens up the whole room!

The cute Valentine’s Day themed towels are from last year at Sur la Table, but I found some adorable ones this year here and here. And the coffee grinder is already red so that fit in perfectly!

Our breakfast room is adjacent to the kitchen so I knew I wanted to do something on that table to highlight the holiday. So I brought out a red striped linen runner that I normally use during Christmastime. This runner is one of my absolute favorites, and I think it works equally well as Valentine’s Day decor. The pop of red is so cheerful – especially during these long grey days of winter!

I’m going to be adding a little more Valentine’s Day decor this weekend. Stay tuned for another Valentine’s post coming next week when I join some bloggers for a seasonal blog hop! But for now, this is the perfect amount. Just enough to give the room some punch and chase the winter blues away!

If you didn’t get a chance to see it, last week I was part of a Valentine’s Day Entertaining blog hop with 30 other bloggers! There, I was inspired to do a pale pink tablescape.

  1. The touches of red look perfect against the white in your beautiful kitchen! I don’t normally decorate for Valentine’s Day either but it is nice to bring out a few fun pieces. I love your table runner!

    1. Thanks so much Shelley! I agree – a little bit is fun! It is the holiday of love, after all! Plus, a few reminders hanging around for a certain husband is not always a bad idea:))

      Happy Weekend!
