Design Trend to Love: Wallpapered Ceilings
Looking for an unexpected way to add character and charm to a room? Wallpapered ceilings might just be the design detail you didn’t know you needed!

Wallpapered ceilings are having a moment, and I have to say, I’ve become a fan! Often called the “fifth wall,” the ceiling is frequently overlooked when decorating a room, but adding wallpaper can completely change the way a space feels.
Whether it’s a subtle pattern that adds just a hint of interest or something a little bolder, wallpapering the ceiling is a beautiful way to add character, charm, and that extra layer that makes a room feel special.
So let’s take a look at a few favorites!

How adorable is this pretty and oh-so-cozy guest room? Swooning.

By House of Hargrove. This was one of the first ceilings I fell for!
I’m especially fond of wallpapered ceilings in a bathroom, laundry room, or private spaces like alcoves, reading nooks, or closets. And these smaller spaces are the perfect way to dip your toe in the trend without a huge investment.
Above, my friend Elaine wallpapered the ceiling of her butler’s pantry and it couldn’t be prettier!

Though I typically prefer more subtle wallpaper looks, when I saw this gorgeous space at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase, I was immediately smitten. The space felt cocoon-like in the best way. And this paper was stunning!

Especially pretty in closets, wallpaper adds interest to an otherwise utilitarian space. Love.

Love how cozy this office feels with its moody green paint and foresty wallpaper.

I’m sure it’s no surprise that this adorable bathroom has my heart! Not only does it feature the prettiest blue toile wallpaper, but the scalloped crown molding really takes it to another level. What a great way to make a small space feel special!

Absolutely stunning mudroom! Love the wallpaper and that floor.

What an utterly charming space!

The walls and ceiling of this warm and inviting dining room feature a pretty floral that coordinates with the wall color.

Kid’s spaces are especially great with wallpapered ceilings.

Another blogging friend Chrissy Marie papered her guest room ceiling. I love it with that gorgeous wall color!

This pretty paper adds a note of whimsy to a child’s bedroom.
For me, the most inspiring spaces are never about following every trend – they’re about finding those special details that make a home feel interesting and personal. A wallpapered ceiling is one of those details, and I love the idea of giving a part of the room we so often ignore a chance to shine.
I’m thinking of wallpapering our laundry room ceiling once we start on that space! What about you? Would you wallpaper a ceiling?
