French Finds at Wayfair – a Living Room & Dining Room Update
Wayfair is one of my favorite places to shop for French finds. Come see how we updated our living and dining rooms with just a couple of small changes!
Today I’m excited to be sharing a mini-refresh in both our living and dining rooms! I haven’t changed anything major in either space in a pretty long time, so this was a much-needed change.
Wayfair has long been one of my favorite places to shop for French-inspired finds. Their selection is absolutely one of the best, and their prices are always good as well. With that in mind, I went shopping for new dining chairs and a new coffee table for the living room.
It’s amazing how these small changes made such a big impact and completely changed the spaces!

This ‘before’ shot of the dining room shows our previous vintage chairs. While I liked them, they really weren’t practical for actual dining! Not only were they wobbly and fragile, but they were also pretty uncomfortable. On top of that, two had already broken over the years so it was definitely time for a update!
And after!!
Enter the perfect French dining chairs. The finish on the chairs is so good! I didn’t want white chairs or anything too light, but I also didn’t want a dark brown.
This pretty and slightly distressed neutral finish contrasts nicely with our table and provides just enough separation (always a challenge!)

I couldn’t be happier with the change – and I can’t believe it took me this long to do it! I’m now working on adding a rug back in, and maybe painting our sideboard.
Another change I’ve been dying to make was to replace our marble table in the living room. While it’s very pretty, the modern style didn’t feel like ‘me’ anymore, and the fact that the entire table was white also felt too stark in a room that already has a lot of white.
I went looking for something slightly rustic and a little bit French, and found the coffee table of my dreams! The wood brings much more warmth to the space compared with the stark white marble.
And I love the finish! It’s the perfect blend of not-too-light and not-too-dark. Just like the dining room, I didn’t want a dark wood but wanted something that would be a change from the all white table that was previously here.
And the legs!! They are so pretty, and in my opinion, make the whole table! Love!
Again Wayfair really came through! Their selection of rustic French and European style tables is pretty extensive.
In fact, I found so many gorgeous coffee tables, I had a hard time choosing!
I couldn’t more thrilled with our new furniture! Now I just need to find rugs for both spaces and I’ll be done… for now! 😉
A couple of other favorites in our home are this gorgeous bed (added it to the guest room a few months ago) and of course, our outdoor sofa and chair that we love!

The rug is actually the one that usually resides in the family room – I just switched it for now as the new table looked terrible on the seagrass rug!

I love your new coffee table, great choice. As per your dining room, I think a little soft color painted on your sideboard would be lovely. Either a pale green or blue would warm up that room and give a more French look. I once saw a distressed antique French tall cabinet in a soft color of green in an antique store. I went home to think about it because the price was up there but still I could afford it. So, I justified the purchase by asking my husband to buy it for me for my birthday and Christmas present. I have now had it in two different houses and would not part with it ever. It adds a hint of elegance and old world style to any room, but mostly in my living rooms. Soft color, just as we add it to a Neutral colored sofa by the choice of pillows. That piece adds personality to a room.

Ok, I went back to look more closely to your chest and I recommend that you not paint the top, that wood color will look great with a pale blue on bottom of the piece.

Hi Sheila, If you have never painted a piece before, I suggest that you find a local person who paints furniture and look at the pieces they have done. Your piece is more difficult than a small round table. So, you could find a professional. Or else, do a practice run on a small round table with a color you like.
P.S. and stay away from chalk paint
